A song to go…

On this day Pete Astor will be given a set of objects related to the Disrupt your Everyday project and the Go To and Soho Poly spaces and given 3 hours to write and record a song.

The recording will then be lathe cut in Brighton and delivered to the space for a world premiere playback of the track  at 6.00 in Go To.

The lathe cut recording will later be framed and put on display.

Pete Astor is a musician, writer and educator. As singer and songwriter with Creation Records groups The Loft and The Weather Prophets, he helped define the sound of the label and the emerging indie genre. Alongside his music, he has written widely on songwriting and popular music for Bloomsbury Academic, the Cambridge Companion to Music and publications including NME and Mojo. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Westminster, where he has taught and mentored many songwriters while continuing his own musical career as both a solo artist and leader of The Loft, releasing records on labels including Matador, Heavenly, Warp and Tapete Records.
