Make a Song Today is a one-day songwriting workshop for a small group of participants, designed to create the focus and momentum that songwriting often needs. Led by songwriter Pete Astor, the day combines guided exercises, creative prompts, discussion, and independent writing time in a supportive environment.
Whether you want to start new songs, move past creative blocks, or reconnect with songwriting, the workshop is designed to generate ideas and build confidence. Small numbers ensure thoughtful feedback and engagement with each participant’s creative processes.

Pete Astor is a musician, writer and educator. As singer and songwriter with Creation Records groups The Loft and The Weather Prophets, he helped define the sound of the label and the emerging indie genre. Alongside his music, he has written widely on songwriting and popular music for Bloomsbury Academic, the Cambridge Companion to Music and publications including NME and Mojo. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Westminster, where he has taught and mentored many songwriters while continuing his own musical career as both a solo artist and leader of The Loft, releasing records on labels including Matador, Heavenly, Warp and Tapete Records.
