Radio Drama – Everyday Disruption

Soho Poly is delighted to welcome legendary ‘radio play collectors’ Alison and Nigel Deacon for two talks followed by networking with audio drama writers and listeners.

In this second talk Nigel responds to the history of Soho Poly and its aim to Disrupt Your Everyday by considering disruption in Radio Drama, and radio plays of the 1970s and 1980s written by Soho Poly playwrights, illustrated by excerpts of plays from his collection. Followed by short discussion with contemporary Radio Dramatists.

A radio drama fan since childhood, Nigel Deacon began collecting and archiving radio drama in 1972. His many overlapping collections now comprise around 20,000 plays and his Sutton Elms website is consulted by radio historians, writers, and the BBC, to identify and locate recordings.
