The Art and Craft of Radio Drama

12:00 – 1:30pm

In this first talk Nigel will explore the Art and Craft of Radio Drama from the listener’s perspective, illustrated by excerpts of plays from his collection. Followed by a short interview with Nigel and Alison.

A radio drama fan since childhood, Nigel Deacon began collecting and archiving radio drama in 1972. His many overlapping collections now comprise an archive of around 20,000 plays, which is consulted by radio historians, writers and the BBC to identify and locate recordings. The Sutton Elms website was set up and is managed by Alison.

This event is presented by the Audio Writers Theatre, a group of writers celebrating audio drama through live events in association with The Nosocomial Project.
